Turns out the new Rideout Technologies bike seat referenced in my last post is both ugly and uncomfortable. Who'd a thunk it?
Okay, to be fair, it simply doesn't fit my body. I was hoping it would be comfortable enough to at least test on longer rides, but I couldn't handle it for any length of time at all.
So my scheme to manufacture extra incentive to get on the bike trainer this month failed miserably.
Apparently the way to 'solve' the issue of saddle comfort for long rides is by switching over to a recumbent bike, but I'm just not ready to go there.
On a brighter note the seat I am now using (Performance's Forte Pro SL) is also new, and is much more comfortable, at least so far on a few 90-minute trainer rides, than the seat that came with my bike two years ago. Particularly considering one of the mounting rails on the original seat was bent so that the seat tipped down to the right. I discovered this late last season but didn't get around to changing it out until the season was over.
