Didn't we already stay at Eagle Crest this year? Yes, we did. We skipped last year due to this little thing with starting a business and all, so we had an extra week to use this year. This post includes all our rides, and even a hike, while at Eagle Crest.

Chelan Century Challenge

Dufur Loop Century

For our anniversary the forecast had called for a reasonable chance of rain in Vancouver, so we decided to drive east and ride. Worked like a charm. The only rain we experienced was the downpour in the metro area on the drive back.

Eagle Crest 2013 (May-June)

In the past I have normally done a quick post for each ride for our week at Eagle Crest, but that seems like too much work, so here is a summary of the whole week.

We've been wanting to do the Ride Around Clark County since 2009, but the weather never cooperated to our satisfaction, until today. Our expectations for the ride were a little off, but our planning was spot on.

Hutch's Pre-Season Century

We had an amazing (for us) average moving speed for the first two-thirds of this century: 19 mph. I thought for sure we would set a new personal best average speed for a century. We were so fast I had visions of cycling sugar plums dancing in my head. Then we climbed the one substantial grade on the ride, a 4-mile climb of 850 feet. Then it hit us, at about mile 73, right at the top of the grade as we turned west for the final leg: headwind.

Perfect day for a ride! The only negatives were mostly on the last quarter of the ride: headwind, traffic and red lights.

Another nice ride. Lots of climbing. Little traffic. Beautiful scenery. Brutally difficult ride. Same ol' stuff!

Salmon Falls Century

Today was a tough ride. Not that much more total elevation gain than last weekend's Cherry of a Ride, but today all the significant climbs were steeper and they were packed into the middle 45 miles.

Great ride! Aside from the headwind at the end the weather couldn't have been any better.

Bachelor Sunriver OB

Today we started our ride with good friend Janette. The plan was to ride from Eagle Crest to Sunriver, and if Janette felt up to it we would do the 4-mile side excursion to get the rest of the way up to Mt. Bachelor on the way there.

Prineville Bend Loop

Our first ride at Eagle Crest, on the first full day there, Monday. Started out with a beautiful sunrise. No better way to start a vacation or a bike ride.

Lewis County

Our goal for today was to go faster than we did last year on this ride. Today we did this ride unsupported. They hold the supported ride in May, and we've ridden it twice, until this year because of the cruddy weather we were having back in May (and June and April and...).
