It was a nice day and there won't be that many more of those this cycling season.

I had been wanting to ride out to Siouxon Creek (pronounced "Sue Sawn") for quite some time. I've hiked on the trail out there, but of course got there by car. Perhaps one day I will do both: ride there by bike and hike the trail.

But not this day. This day was hard enough as it was. I am well past my peak fitness for the season, which probably topped out about a month ago. But I was able to do the whole ride, so that's something.

I had thought the fall colors would be in full bloom, so to speak, being that it is October. But it didn't really seem like it. I must have been only looking out at the evergreen scenery...

Dobler Hill has been on my to do list for a while as well, so I tackled it as part of this ride. Probably a mistake as I'm sure I will be regretting it tomorrow. According to my ride data the Dobler climb is 0.8 miles long with an average slope of 10%. However one stretch is 0.4 miles at 14%. Probably not all that tough under normal circumstances, but at mile 75 with three solid climbs already completed it was murderous on my already tired legs. But I lived to tell the tale.
